HEALTHeWV Users Group Meeting Proves Helpful to Clinic Staff
May 2008
The NTTC Computer Information Services (CIS) department held its quarterly HEALTHeWV User Group meeting recently at the Marshall University campus in Charleston. The meeting was attended by 23 people representing 15 HEALTHeWV-participating clinics. Making presentations were CIS Director Mike Bowman on the NTTC customer support model and data communications; Health Applications Specialist Pam Scott on provider-to-provider messages and the top 10 calls from HeWV users to the NTTC Help Desk (compiled by Helpdesk Manager Ron Magers, User Support Technician Lou Werner and System Support Technician Ryan Scotka); and Clinical Manager of Health Outcomes Kathy Platter on the new version of HeWV and the Chronic Disease Electronic Management System. Chris Clark, COO of the West Virginia Health Information Network, spoke about the need for uniformity among electronic medical record keeping systems, and interfacing each of the systems. The Cabin Creek clinic’s CEO praised Network Systems Manager Bob Kotson for his efforts in reducing slowness in response time, saying that the system has never been faster. Meeting attendees stayed 45 minutes beyond the allotted time to further their knowledge.
