Electronic Health Records Seminars a Success April 2009 The HEALTHeWV program recently offered two educational seminars in Charleston and Princeton. The focus: how the use of EHRs can improve care. Twenty-four participants registered to learn more about EHRs and see a demonstration of the HEALTHeWV application. Dr. Chad Turner, MD - Cabin Creek Health Systems provided an overview of how EHRs can streamline a provider’s patient load. Debbie Enigk, Administrator - Mercer Health Right explained the impact on day-to-day operations in changing from paper to e-charting. Kathy Platter, RN - Clinical Manager-Health Outcomes, provided a demonstration of the application discussing how the system can be tailored to meet the needs of individual clinics. Mazharullah Shaik, MD - Executive Director, shared how EHRs can provide cost-savings and impact pay for performance. He further explained how clinics can tap into stimulus funds. Since the seminar, HEALTHeWV staff members have received additional calls from health care professionals interested in the program. Follow-ups are being conducted with parties interested in learning more. |
