Prescription Order Entry (POE)
The Prescription Order Entry function includes robust features for writing, renewing, printing, or e-faxing patients' prescriptions. Several of these features are restricted to only users with the Prescribe Medications user role. With Prescription Order Entry, users can:
- Write, renew, print, or e-fax prescriptions, while maintaining a “My Favorites” list of drugs.
- Maintains a list of favorite pharmacies for e-faxing
- Allows for each patient to be tied to their favorite pharmacy
- View patients’ medications and allergies while writing prescriptions.
- View a list of warnings and precautions for patients based on the drugs being prescribed and patients’ current (active) medications and allergies. This feature supports the following warning types and precautions:
- Drug/Drug Interaction
- Potential Drug/Allergy Reaction
- Potential Allergy to Inactive Ingredient
- Geriatric Precaution
- Pediatric Precaution
- Lactation Precaution
- Pregnancy Precaution
- Automatically update patients’ current medication lists with the drugs being prescribed.
- Automatically populate the Drug Therapy section of an eNOTE with the prescriptions written for the encounter.
- Increase patient safety by:
- Reducing prescription errors caused by illegible handwriting.
- Automating the process of checking drug interactions.
- Automating the process of checking allergies.
